Day 1: Enjoy breakfast or brunch at LuLu’s Cafe. Don’t wait too late; this retro spot is only open through brunch. We recommend the upside-down pineapple cake mimosa! LuLu’s Cafe is conveniently located 200ft from the water, and that’s where we’re heading next. Pack your sand toys and sunscreen and hit the beach! Did your pup make the trip? At the time of this writing, dogs are allowed on the beach before 10 am and after 5 pm during the busy season (May 1-Labor Day). Outside this period, dogs are allowed on the beach at all hours. They must also be on a 7ft (or shorter) leash at all times, regardless of season. Catch Happy Hour at RipTydz: Myrtle Beach’s Largest Rooftop Oceanfront Bar. With dozens of drink options and plenty of comfortable seating, RipTydz is an excellent choice for groups. If you choose to stay for dinner (we think you should), the Coastal Seafood Platter easily fed 3 of us! RipTydz also has live music seven days a week! |
Day 2: Did you know you can tour a castle just outside of Myrtle Beach? Okay, it’s not a medieval castle, but Anna Huntington is an artistic and philanthropic queen in our eyes. Head out to Huntington State Park and tour Atalaya Castle. The tour is self-guided and takes about an hour to complete. Check out SC State Park’s website for current admission prices. Admission to tour the castle is free (for up to 4 people) if you have a State Park’s Annual Pass. At the time of this writing (May 2024), admission to tour the castle was $2/person. After your tour, walk on over to Spoonbills and enjoy some ice cream! Pro Tip: Huntington and Myrtle Beach State Park both allow you to reserve beach access parking ahead of time for $5. Parking lots fill up fast, which is excellent for large families with lots of beach gear. Unwind at the pool for a few hours before preparing for an evening at Broadway at the Beach. There’s plenty to eat, see, and do at Broadway. We recommend eating at The Hangout during the big sports game(s)—perfect if you’re visiting during the Summer Olympics! The Hangout also hosts a variety of family-friendly events and often has live music on its stage. Head over to their Instagram page for the latest fun. Image courtesy of The Hangout Instagram (@thehangoutmb) Other restaurants at Broadway include Margaritaville, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen, King Kong Sushi, and American Tap House. Check out PopStroke, an innovative miniature golf course. It includes two 18-hole courses, a full-service bar, a restaurant, and an ice cream shop. Your ticket is good for the whole day! |
Day 3: Enjoy your last day on the beach! There are 60 miles of coastline to enjoy. Lastly, you can’t leave Myrtle Beach without trying some seafood. Our favorite spot is Drunken Jack’s in Murrell’s Inlet. Pro-Tip: Arrive early, put your name on the waitlist, and walk the half-mile-long Marshwalk while you wait. Try not to fill up on the homemade hushpuppies! We also love Damon’s Grill, Driftwoods, Wicked Tuna, and Lee’s Inlet Kitchen. |
Alternate Option: Inclement Weather! It should be no surprise that Myrtle Beach experiences a good summer thunderstorm. It’s a good idea to have a backup plan for rainy days on your itinerary. Rainy Day Activities:Ripley’s Aquarium Top Golf Cancun Lagoon Miniature Golf (don’t worry, it’s indoors)Wonderworks Wine Tasting at Duplin Winery and La Belle Amie VineyardShopping at the Tanger Outlets—This outdoor outlet mall offers some protection from the rain. The last time I was here on a rainy day, a Vera Bradley employee told me he sold $4k of merchandise in an hour! |
A trip to Myrtle Beach promises an exciting mix of sun, sand, and unique experiences that cater to all ages and interests. From brunch to Broadway, this itinerary ensures a memorable vacation. |
